Anger is a weapon against evils, but at times it becomes the reason of destruction of good deeds. It is mental state where all senses stop working and the blood pressure starts rising.

Once a person came to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and asked for an advice. Holy Prophet (PBUH) advised him not to get angry. He repeated his question twice more and he got the same answer. From this it can also be concluded that if you can control your anger, it means you have a strong personality and are able to anything.

Some people by nature are short tempered. Most of us get angry when something happens which is against our will or when something goes wrong because of another person. Stress is also a reason for anger. Beside these, they are so many other reasons in our daily routine which make us angry. You may have observed when you are angry; you try to offend other people around you which affect relationships. Shaytaan is happy when you get angry, as it is his tool and he knows that the angry person can harm anyone around him.

Today I will be sharing with you some ways of anger management.

Anger not a matter of power or ability

You need to understand that to become angry or not on a situation is not in your control, but how to react to it is something you have power over on. A person, who controls his anger, is the bravest. Controlling anger is a tough job; it is like putting water on fire.

Stay Quiet, when angry

Try to remain quiet when you are angry, because in such an emotional state we may say words which can make the situation even worse.

Seek refuge from Allah

Seek refuge from Allah. Only Allah can take you out of a situation and help you in getting calm.

Change your position

Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said:

“If one of you becomes angry while standing he should sit down. If the anger leaves him, well and good; otherwise he should lie down”
                                                                           (Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 5114)

Perform Abulation

Performing ablution is another method of anger management. The Prophet (PBUH) said:

“Anger comes from the devil, the devil was created of fire, and fire is extinguished only with water; so when any of you is angry, he should perform ablution”
                                                                       (Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4766)

Try to Delay Your Action

If you are not able to control your anger, try delaying your response at that certain time. This delay will help you in getting calm down and afterwards you can react in a positive way to that situation.

Change your tone

Try to use a soft tone with kind words when the situation is worse. Kind words will help in relaxing the environment.

Don’t show the type of attitude, which you don’t like for yourself

If you don’t like angry and harsh people, then try not to become such a person yourself.

Patience

Try to practice patient in all situations. It will also help you in dealing anger.

The Holy Quran defines a righteous man in the following words:

“Those who spend (freely) whether in prosperity or in adversity; who restrain anger and pardon (all) men; for Allah loves those who do good.” (Quran 3:134).

So be patient and start controlling your anger from now onwards. You will also experience that it will increase your productivity and will save you from pessimism. It will also help you gain more respect and love from people 🙂

May Allah save us from the tricks and tools of shaytaan, help us in controlling anger and make us among the righteous man.Ameen
