It all ended with Ramadan. Isn’t Allah the same all twelve months, so why just Ramadan? Why praying and worshiping only in Ramadan? Why stopping from sins and vices only in Ramadan? May be you will smile and say that Shaitan is chained in Ramadan. Yes, but if Shaitan was chained in Ramadan, you were also trained for a month and forgot everything in just a single night. But it was only a push for you to start the spiritual experience that revives life and makes you live life full of peace and contentment. Here are some advices for you to draw maximum benefit from Ramadan routine:

Practice Praying all Prayers on Time

Are you still offering your prayers at the earliest hour?? Like in Ramadhan you use to stop your work for some moments and go to pray at the earliest hour. It really important to hold this habit. As it is a great source of brining punctuality to life. You may have observed in Ramadan there is a proper routine you are following. This whole month is meant to train you on it so your habit becomes mature and you can practice it after Ramdan.

Fast the other prescribed days in the Sunnah of the Prophet(ﷺ)

Yes, this is one of the best ways to protect your soul that was spiritualized (purified from the corrupting influences of the world). This will help you both physically and spiritually. You will laugh that how difficult it was to fast the obligatory ones, why shall I fast more when it is not even obligatory. The answer is yes it is not obligatory, but did you forget that you are reading this to safeguard yourself after Ramadan. Indeed the Prophet of Allah said about fasting:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said,

“There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, ‘Where are those who used to observe fasts?’ They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it.”
                            [Sahih al-Bukhari, 1896 Book 30, Hadith 6 Vol. 3, Book 31, Hadith 120]

So what days shall you fast other than Ramadan? Following days are the prescribed ones:

  • Six days of the month of Shawwaal.
  • The first nine days of Thul-Hijjah and the day of ‘Arafat for those who are not performing Hajj.
  • Fasting during the month of Al-Muharram, most of the month of Sha’baan, every Monday and Thursday and the three days of every lunar month.

References are from [Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Ahmed and abu dawood]

Hafsah  relates:

There are four things that the Prophet  never abandoned: fasting the day of ‘Aashooraa’, fasting the first ten days of Thul-Hijjah, fasting three days of every month and praying the two Raka’s before the dawn prayer.”

                                                                  [Ahmed and An-Nasaa’ee]

Note that “the first ten” means the first nine days since the tenth will be the ‘Eid (i.e. the day of sacrifice).

Listen Quran Daily

As you read Quran Daily in Ramadan, continue this habit in your everyday routine as well. How often we like to hear a melodious voice in terms of songs, why not listen to beautiful Quranic recitations that touch your heart and mesmerize your ears, so much so that you wish to recite in the same tone. You will realize the real miracle in the quranic verses and tears will roll down your cheeks. How beautiful is that? Only if you want to benefit. You can recite in the same way as any other great Imam, just by having will along with practice. Allah’s apostle said:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“The one who was devoted to the Qur’an will be told on the Day of Resurrection: `Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last Ayah you recite.”

                                                                       [Abu dawood and Tirmidhi]

Give Charity

Many people give Charity in Ramadan because the reward is multiplied many times as it comes in various narrations. But don’t abandon that practice when Ramadan finishes. Make a portion of your earnings and give in the way of Allah as this is the most beloved thing to Allah.

Allah says in the Holy Quran:

The charity of those who expend their wealth in the Way of Allah may be likened to a grain of corn, which produces seven ears and each ear yields a hundred grains. Likewise Allah develops manifold the charity of anyone He pleases, for He is.

[Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 261]

Also at another verse in Holy Quran:

O ye who believe, spend of the wealth We have bestowed upon you (in Allah’s way), before the Day comes when there shall be no buying and no selling; when neither friendship nor intercession will be of any avail.
[Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah, verse 254]

The Prophet also said:

“Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.”

                                      [Tirmidhi, Hadith 589]

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.”
                                   [Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604]

These are some of the tips that may help you help you in keeping the spirit of Ramdan alive.

It will also have a healthy impact on your life and you will be rich spiritually. This will organize your life and you will become a punctual person in all your daily matters. Give them a try and witness the ultimate happiness in this world and Hereafter.
